Royal Weddings and Sex with Kings

Maybe I was way more into this Royal Wedding than I care to admit. Ok, I was way more into the Royal Wedding that I should have been. But come on – those hats!

Anyway, I think that I was inspired by all the British hoopla all over my tv when I picked up Sex with Kings by Eleanor Herman. It has been sitting on my shelf for years and I honestly could not remember if I had already read it. I still don’t remember.

I don’t even know what to call this book. It is not a novel, but calling it a scholarly book would  make it sounds dry and academic, which this book is not. Herman is funny and naughty – which makes sense since she is talking about royal mistresses and all the sordid details that go along with the subject. Who know that this much material survived detailing the sexual habits of every monarch ever?

But I will be honest with you – I am did not read the whole thing. And I am tapping out. I just… lost interest. Maybe it was overkill and too much British-ness the last few weeks. Maybe I don’t want to picture William with a  mistress after the fairy tale that was his wedding. I also can’t stop thinking about Russell Brand’s Booky Wook 2and Tina Fey’s Bossypants- which I just loaded onto my Kindle and can not wait to read.
